I want to buy your fonts. What’s font licensing?
Fonts are tools (softwares) for using letter designs in computers. You need to purchase a license to use our fonts. The font license gives you the right to use the fonts in the ways which are stated in the End User License Agreement (EULA).
End User License Agreement (EULA) is the document which specifies the terms and conditions of use. By placing an order, you agree to the EULA and it is a legally binding contract between you and Element Type. It’s important that you read and understand the applicable font license terms before making a purchase with us.
What is included in the license?
Each license includes Unlimited uses for Print, Websites, Mobile applications, Global Corporate, Electronic publications, Social networks, Videos and Movies. The only binding information needed to select is your license size: The number of people working for your company.
Who should own the license, designer or client?
The organization benefiting from the commercial value created by the usage of the fonts should own the license and pay for it. This is mostly the company commissioning the work, rarely the designer personally. Just make sure you fill in the “Company Name” at the checkout and the license will be purchased on behalf of that company. Every client should own their license.
I purchased some licensing, and now I need more. Do I get a discount?
Yes, you do. You only pay for the license upgrade (the difference between your previous licensing cost and the larger licensing package that you’re upgrading your purchased styles or packages) Please email us for more information.
Can I get a refund for my font purchase?
Sorry, we cannot issue refunds for licensing sales due to the nature of the software delivery process. All purchases are final.
Do I need to renew the basic license every year?
No, the licensing fee is a one-off cost, there are no recurring fees. The fonts can be used worldwide and all licenses have no expiry. Although you are required to upgrade your license if your company size increases.
Do you offer unlimited or corporate licensing?
Yes, we do. We offer a licensing tier specifically created for bigger companies and startups with fast growth ambitions in order to avoid having to worry about monitoring their growth and upgrading their license. Please email us for more information.
Can I use the fonts I purchased for a logo?
Yes, you can. We don’t sell a special kind of license for logo usage. You are clear after buying just any license.
What font formats do you provide?
You will get OTF and TTF formats for desktop usage, WOFF and WOFF2 for web usage. We don’t offer EOT or SVG formats.
Why does the vertical alignment of my web fonts seem off?
Multiple factors affect this outcome. But the most important one is that every font has a unique design which requires different values for vertical spacing. Our fonts are produced with unique metrics based on their design and to make sure no part of the accented letters are being clipped off. This can result in asymmetrical vertical alignments sometimes. There are no standards, typographic rules or easy solutions to make sure the text looks visually centered across all operating systems and browsers.
What are trial fonts?
We offer all of our typefaces as trial fonts so that you can test them in your designs before buying any licensing. You can install the trial fonts on your computer and use them in your design projects, including websites. You can share them with your colleagues and clients to get approval before purchasing the fonts. Design students, you can use our fonts in your school projects without buying a license. Just make sure you read the licensing information and you don’t breach the rules.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payments via credit card. Our payment operations are handled on Stripe.
My transaction has failed, what do I do?
Please contact your bank or credit card company to resolve any problems with your transaction. We use Stripe to securely process credit card data. We can not see your private details or the reason why your purchase has been declined. If your transaction is successful but you didn’t get the fonts, please contact us.
Can I modify your fonts?
Fonts are softwares protected by copyright laws and you are not allowed to modify the font software itself. However, this does not mean you can’t make modifications to the letterforms. You can outline our fonts in your preferred design software and change it in any way you like. We offer customization services for font files if you need additional modifications such as alternative characters or custom font names. Please email us for more information.
